The Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association (IEPA) has announced that its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Saturday, December 27, at the Millennium Hotel, Fate, Ilorin, Kwara State, starting at 10:00 a.m.

According to Professor Aishatu Ahmed Gobir, Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, this year’s AGM will feature a keynote lecture on “Roles and Responsibilities of the Academia in Good Governance.” She explained that the lecture is aimed at fostering discussions on how academic institutions can contribute to sustainable governance in Nigeria.

Renowned scholar and former diplomat, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, will deliver the keynote address. Drawing from his experience as the immediate past Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Professor Gambari is expected to highlight the critical link between scholarly research, public service, and effective governance.

The AGM will be chaired by Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State University, while Professor Abdul Kabir Hussain Solihu, President of IEPA, will serve as Chief Host.

The Royal Father and Life Patron of IEPA, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, has given his full endorsement to the event.

Professor Gobir extended an open invitation to professors, academics, policymakers, and development stakeholders to attend, describing the AGM as “a vital platform for intellectual engagement to strengthen the role of academia in national governance.”

A notable feature of the 2025 AGM will be the presentation of scholarships to outstanding students of Ilorin Emirate origin currently studying in universities across Nigeria.

The announcement was made public in a statement signed by Professor Isiaka Zubair Aliagan, Chairman of the Publicity Committee for the IEPA AGM 2025.
