Chief Mrs. Mariam Abdulwasiu Omotayo, performed the foundation laying ceremony for a new Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Divisional Office in Malete.

The event, held on February 11, 2026, had in attendance the Acting State Commandant of NSCDC in Kwara, DCC Ayelabowo Olusegun Isaac, alongside top security officials, traditional rulers and community leaders.

The project, initiated by the Moro Local Government Authority, is aimed at providing a permanent office complex for the Malete Division of the Corps, in recognition of its critical role in protecting lives, safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and supporting internal security operations within the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Omotayo reaffirmed her administration’s resolve to prioritise security as a foundation for development. She commended officers and men of the NSCDC for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace across Malete and neighbouring communities.

“Our administration recognises the invaluable contributions of the NSCDC in ensuring the safety of our people and the protection of government assets. This project is a demonstration of our commitment to strengthening security presence and supporting the Corps to function effectively,” she said.

In his remarks, the Acting State Commandant, DCC Ayelabowo Olusegun Isaac, expressed gratitude to the council chairperson and the Moro LGA for what he described as a strategic and timely intervention.

“This permanent structure will significantly enhance our operational efficiency and improve the morale of our personnel. It will also enable us to respond more effectively to security challenges within Malete and its environs,” he stated.

He assured residents that the Corps would continue to uphold professionalism, integrity and effective service delivery in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.

The ceremony attracted key stakeholders including a representative of the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Hon. Justice Y. Dikko; the Area B Commander, ACC Hafusat Mustapha; Divisional Police Officer of Malete Division, CSC Edward Egamana; Divisional Officer of NSCDC Shao Division, SC Ajape; as well as other security chiefs, political office holders and members of the host community.

The new divisional office is expected to further consolidate security collaboration among agencies and deepen community confidence in law enforcement presence across Moro Local Government Area.
