Arising from the uprising by students as a result of the conduct of the Students Union Government election held on the 4th of September 2024, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman on Tuesday 10th September 2024 constituted a High Powered Committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the students uprising.
The High Powered Committee of Inquiry into the students uprising which has two (2) weeks from the day of inauguration to submit its report to the Vice-Chancellor is saddled with the following terms of reference; to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the students uprising or crisis after the elections, to identify key players and Principal actors in the crisis, and to identify the level of damage done to University property.
Other terms of reference the Committee is investigating are to determine the level of internal and external involvement and connivance, to recommend measures that will forestall future occurrence of cases of such nature and to advise management on any matter incidental thereof.
In a related development, the management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is inviting staff, students and concerned citizens of the University to submit Memorandum supplying crucial information on the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and make recommendation aimed at forestalling the occurrence of such incident in future.
According to a circular signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the University, Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II all Memorandum should be submitted to the office of the Registrar, the Information and Protocol Officer or the Office of the Secretary to the Committee, Vice-Chancellor’s Office on or before Friday, 13th September 2024.
