Professor May is a woman with a myriad of credentials – a sound Academic, a seasoned Administrator, and currently serves as the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences,  Nile University  Nigeria. Throughout her illustrious career, she has left an indelible mark in the fields of education, writing, and social justice.

Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Nigeria, May Nwoye embarked on a path of knowledge and personal growth from an early age. Her passion for learning took her to renowned educational institutions around the world. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting at the George

 Washington University in Washington DC, USA. laying a strong foundation for her future endeavours. Seeking further knowledge, she pursued a Master’s in Business and Public (MBPA) with a specialization in Finance at South-eastern University in Washington DC, USA. Driven by her thirst for more knowledge, May Nwoye earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Management from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Additionally, she underwent specialized training at the Graduate School of Public Administration and International Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and Oxford Brooks University in the United Kingdom, further enhancing her expertise.

Administration Academic and Professional Achievements

Prof Nwoye has many Academic publications, in books, Book chapters, and journal articles in reputable local and international journals. Equipped with a solid academic background, Professor Nwoye rose through the ranks, covering a wide variety of academic and non-academic positions and has made her mark. In addition to her academic contributions, Professor Nwoye has actively participated in various professional and literary associations, leaving an indelible mark in each. She is the National President of the Association of Entrepreneurship Scholars (AES), where she promotes entrepreneurship, education and research. Her expertise has been recognized through fellowships from the Certified National Accountants (FCNA), Chartered Institute of Forensics and Fraud Examiners of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), as well as her membership in esteemed organizations such as the Nigerian Academy of Management and the Board of International Professional Women’s Network, in the USA. over 40 academic publications, numerous research papers and papers presented at seminars and conferences across the five continents, and journal articles, garnering recognition for her insightful work.

Writing and Literary Contributions

Professor Nwoye is a distinguished Nigerian female writer with a profound literary impact. Throughout her career, she has authored over 10 books of creative writing. Her creative writing spans various genres, including novels, short stories, and poems, and often highlights social and economic injustice faced by marginalized communities. Notably, she was she won the Nigerian Authors’ Chevron Prize for Environmental Writing.

Engagements and Public Speaking

Beyond academia and writing, Professor Nwoye is a passionate advocate for social change. Her compelling voice has been heard as a keynote speaker and panel discussant at numerous international conferences and events. More recently, she was a keynote speaker at the 2017 parallel presentation on “Strengthening Strategies for Institutions to achieve greater effectiveness, accountability, and responsiveness towards the 2030 Development Agenda at the UN Headquarters. As a judge in the National Entrepreneurship competition conducted by the Nigeria National Universities Commission, she played a pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurial talents in the country. She has also member NUC Accreditation panel to several Federal, State, and Private Universities in Nigeria.

Administrative Roles and Achievements

Throughout her career, Professor Nwoye has assumed key administrative positions, making significant strides and paving the way for others. As the former University Bursar at the University of Benin, she shattered barriers by becoming the first substantive female to hold this position. Her trailblazing spirit also marked her as the first female in Ph.D. Business Administration at the University of Benin.
