The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lafia Prof Shehu Abdulrahman has declared his intentions to develop the University to the position of five best in the world which in essence would be the best in Nigeria.
Speaking with newsmen during the launching of an appeal fund raising organized by the Alumni Association of the Nasarawa State’s University Keffi at the Auditorium hall of the institution RECENTLY, the Vice Chancellor assured that already plans are underway for the achievement of that purpose.
“We have already included our plans to take the university to the higher level of development both in its academic activities and otherwise so as to make it a great citadel of knowledge in the globe” he assured.
Prof Abdulrahman who is a renown academician and an administrator further disclosed that the University is working on viable plans towards generating enough funds both from the internal and outside sources with a view to sustain and develop its activities instead of the usual tradition of waiting for allocations.
He then expressed the delight that the measure already taken by the university have already started yielding the desired fruits and therefore assured that concerted efforts to make the University stand on its feet and serve the country through the production of quality and employable graduate among other service to humanity is a mission it desire to achieve.
“Our great desire is to make the university to stand on its feet solidly, serve the community and country by producing quality and employable graduates that would contribute to the nations building as well as provide other vital social services for the development of humanity in general” he assured.
On the development of Agriculture which the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is pursuing as a means of diversifying the nation economy, the Vice Chancellor who is also an Agriculturalists assured that the University is also going to key into the project by training its students in the modern skills of Agriculture to enable them contribute their quota in the General Agricultural development of the country. He believe that their contributions in that regards would be great as such they would not rest their Oars in that regards and commended the Federal and States Government for keying into Agricultural revolution which he believe at the end would turn around the nation’s economy apart from guaranteeing food self sufficiency and security for Nigerians.
